WHAT IS SPORTSWORK?

Delivered in partnership with Basketball Victoria, SPORTSWORK is a free comprehensive personal development program for people with disability or medical barriers, focused on maximizing athletic and employment potential to help participants be the best that they can be.

Designed as a springboard into employment, this program uses basketball as a means of engagement to develop life, leadership and employability skills. The program encompasses both on and off court activities including basketball skills and drills, health and wellbeing sessions, resume building and interviewing skills, as well as provides assistance in searching and securing meaningful employment for participants.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The SPORTSWORK program is broken down into three modules, Employment Training, Basketball Training and One-on-one Mentoring, conducted over two sessions (group session and one-one-one mentoring session) per fortnight.

Group sessions are two hours long, held at the State Basketball Centre and encompass one hour of employment skills training followed by one hour of basketball skills training.

One-on-one mentoring sessions are conducted on alternating weeks to your group session at a time suitable to your schedule. These sessions are flexible and can be negotiated with your mentor.
